What is DunsPlayFest?

DunsPlayFest is a nine-day festival dedicated to new writing in theatre, giving both emerging and established artists a professionally run platform to showcase their work. What started as a small initiative in 2019, born out of playwriting workshops and the passion of the local troupe Duns Players, has grown into a major cultural event.

By 2023, the festival had nearly doubled in size, and in 2025, it has grown to an impressive 80 theatrical events over the nine days. It remains a friendly and vibrant festival, centred at the beautifully decorated Volunteer Hall in Duns, where audiences can enjoy live performances, hot food in the evenings, and an atmosphere buzzing with creativity and joy.
