18/03/2014 will go down as a very special day here at Fantasy Prints HQ – for we were greeted by a BBC broadcasting team, including Justin Webb! To have Fantasy Prints feature on national radio has created a bit of a buzz around the team!
With a workforce of over 20 and a good number living and hailing from over the Border in Scotland we are all affected by the upcoming vote on the independence of Scotland. This was the main purpose of the BBC’s visit, and will feature next week on the current affairs ‘Today’ show on BBC Radio 4. (week starting 24/03/2014). They started the day by being introduced to the Managing Director, Sarah McMorn, before being shown around our main and secondary units at the Ramparts Business Park, Berwick-Upon-Tweed. After speaking to Sarah and discussing the impact independence could have, Justin interviewed four members of the Fantasy Prints team; Chris Fairbairn, John Dougall, Wendy Lough and Kevin Dickson….. a mix of English and Scottish!
The four all felt uncertainty as to what an independent Scotland would really mean, and how it may affect the mentality of the Scottish working ‘abroad’ and similarly would the English feel differently about trips to Edinburgh or Glasgow. One thing everybody agreed on was that the town of Berwick-Upon-Tweed is very unique would potentially feel the impact of a Scottish Independence as much as anywhere outside Scotland.
The discussion proved very interesting and everybody held strong opinions on what is sure to be a very important and divisive issue in the coming months!
